Armed Response to Active Shooter Scenario Force on Force 11 March 2017
This February I participated in the Mass Murderer and Terrorist Incidents force on force scenario class offered by QSI Training.
In one scenario, I stopped an active shooter, only to be intercepted by a responding “officer” played by a QSI instructor. I moved when the instructor yelled “POLICE! DON’T MO-” and was shot at medium range by a shotgun.
In March, I unknowingly had the opportunity to do the scenario again.
I am grateful to have the chance to address some prior mistakes, but I also had the chance to make some new mistakes.
If you’ve seen both scenarios, what would you do: cover the bad guy as I did the first time, or move into an unknown space to allow more time to deal with any responders (good or bad)?
