Check Your Lights and Optics: July 2015 Edition

| July 31, 2015 | 2 Comments

July’s “Check Your Lights and Optics” results:

Total dead optics found: 0/11

Total dead weapon mounted lights: 0/4

Total dead handheld lights found: 1/6

This month’s news is that I used my Olight M18 Striker a lot more than usual but the battery held. I was tempted to switch the battery out mid-month but I wanted to see if the rechargeable would make it. It did, and I was impressed.

Unfortunately, this month saw the demise of my trusty LED coin light. After five years of living in my pocket, my now backup-to-my-backup light has kicked the bucket. That’s five years of jangling around in my pocket with keys, a pen, and another flashlight. I may try to replace the battery as a sign of respect. Yeah, it has shitty output compared to similar designs these days, but it helped me find stuff at night and was a trooper.

How did your lights and optics fare this month?

What are you planning on replacing it with? I have grown really fond of my EDC knife (CRKT KISS), and have been considering upping my game with a keychain light. (I was not doing EDC of a knife until six months ago.)

I may check out similar designs from Olight or Nitecore, since I like their products. But I still have a bunch of these from my original order 😀
