Check Your Lights and Optics, September 2017 Edition

| October 6, 2017 | 1 Comments

September’s “Check Your Lights and Optics” results:

Total dead optics found: 0/10

Total dead weapon mounted lights: 0/4

Total dead handheld lights: 0/3

Total dead safe lights: 0/3

Total dead headlamps: 0/3

Two things of note this month:

  1. the rechargeable battery for my Nitecore MT1C survived, which may mean that I have a weak / defective cell in rotation. I’m going to mark them with a Sharpie starting this month and keep track.
  2. I use rechargeable AAA batteries for the headlamps in my trauma kits. This month I used some from EBL that I purchased in July. They are supposedly pre-charged from the factory and have up to 75% power after sitting on the shelf for up to three years. Mine were so weak they barely powered a single LED on my headlamp.

How’d you do this month?

While troubleshooting a car problem the other night, my EDC handheld went euro-dance music crazy. It’s pattern is high white, green, red, flashing white. It was just cycling through, staying on each one for about a quarter of a second.
