Flex Your Guns 2015 Photo Contest: Week #7

JM’s Super Compact .300 Blackout AR15 Pistol

1

  • 80 Percent Arms billet lower
  • PSA Stripped Upper
  • Midwest Industries handguard
  • Ice Arms 6.75 inch stainless barrel
  • STD muzzle device
  • Phase 5 pistol buffer tube
  • Magpul AFG-2 foregrip, K2+ grip, and MBUS

Ever since I saw the briefcase AR on this site awhile back I’ve been driven to build something for myself. Living in California limits my options pretty severely, so I decide to build a pistol from an 80% lower. Once that decision was made, I decided to go whole-hog and build the entire gun from parts, and only buy them on sale if I could. Shoots like a dream. I’d like to pick up a Law Tactical folding adapter at some point to make it more portable but I’m pretty happy with it as-is. Shown with my Beretta 92FS for scale.

BD’s SBR Kel-Tec PLR-16

This gun started life as a Kel-Tec PLR-16 but has been SBR’d.  It has a 9.2 inch barrel and folds to 19.5″ with a Carlson Mini Comp installed. The proprietary folding stock will even fold with a 30 round mag in the gun.  This gun has run flawlessly.  My favorite aspect is the weight. Just a scant over 5 lbs with a loaded 20 round mag!  It’s a breeze to carry in this REI backpack.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

  • At least one photo of your firearm. Send me photos of short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, point defense weapons, SMGs, AR pistols, or any type of firearm that would fit the theme of this blog.
  • Any details about it that you think other readers would find interesting, such as barrel length, important or unusual components, rarity, etc.
  • One reason you love it or hate it.
  • Email photos of your gun to blasters@shortbarrelshepherd.com

Here are the contest details:

  • I will choose the firearms to feature each Thursday by myself.
  • You can enter as many times as you want, but once your firearm is featured on a Thursday you can’t submit again for the same contest.
  • Once we hit 10 weeks, the readers (that’s you!) will vote on who wins out of the pre-selected firearms. My own submissions (if any) won’t count.
  • The contest will end on June 18, 2015.
  • Judging will start on June 19, 2015 and close at 11:59PM CDT June 24, 2015.
  • The winner will be notified on June 25, 2015.
  • If your photo is chosen by the community you’ll have five business days to email me a picture of the firearm you submitted plus a piece of paper with your email address written on it. This is very important to make sure the firearm is actually yours. Our friends in law enforcement may enter their unit’s firearms as long as they can provide the evidence linking their email address to their photo.
  • The winner will get their gift card via email, so make sure you send me your photos from a valid email account!

Show us what you’ve got!

That PLR-16 SBR is awesome. Looks just like an SU-16D9. Very under-appreciated gun for its weight! People wind up making them too heavy by tossing on the pistol grip and collapsing stock, IMHO.
