That’s What She Said: Vicki Farnam Book Women Learning To Shoot Give-A-Way

| April 29, 2015 | 9 Comments

I know the website “Pinterest” gets a bad rap for being a hive of shitty recipes, twee arts and crafts, and “inspirational” quotes complied by moms and tween girls…

While all of those things may be true, The She Shepherd Pinterest page has been getting more and more traffic. It’s been a pretty interesting experiment to see if anyone would find my “SHOT Show 2015 picks” as interesting as 3 minute mug cake recipes.

Not surprisingly, the most popular item I’ve pinned so far has been Vicki Farnam’s groundbreaking guide for law enforcement instructors:

Teaching Women To Shoot

I was very fortunate to meet Vicki in Las Vegas this year. When I told her about the popularity of her book she was very surprised and touched by the interest.

I am giving away a copy of her guide for students called: Women Learning to Shoot autographed by co-author Diane Nicholl.

My fiancé would be the owner of the book if chosen. I’m warming her up to the idea of EDC, but I’m starting small with gifting her her own TDI straight edge :). This would be a great learning asset in her personal security journey.

  2. I would read the book so I can better teach other women to shoot safely and to enjoy shooting.

  3. Susan Lathrop says:

I would be the owner of this book. I would like to read it before I take a Cornered Cat class in August!!

  4. Janine Presson says:

I want to read the book myself. I have an older book written by Farnam & Nicholl titled “Teaching Women to Shoot: A Law Enforcement Instructor’s Guide” that was published in 2002 that I retain for my bookshelves, because I found it to be invaluable.

  5. Carl says:

I’d give it to my wife. I sent her and her friend to a “Women on Target” event as a Christmas gift last year, and they LOVED it! This would be a great way to keep the training going.

I give it to my wife to read.

I teach a high school class in criminal justice and would loan it to interested girls in my class. While many of the male student have a firearms background in many cases that doesn’t extent to the females and I occasionally show short videos to break the ice and educate that it isn’t just a male sport.

    Thanks for the opportunity.

  7. Nathan says:

My wife has a Sig P238 which she does not get enough range time with. I would have her read it to get excited about practice again.

  8. CC says:

I would read it – because it sounds like a great book and with such minimal fire arms exposure I need all the help I can get. Then my 20 year old daughter would read it, and possibly my 59 year old mom. Not to mention the high odds of my husband reading it. Let’s be honest, be would probably wait not too patiently for me to finish it!

Thank you to everyone for entering. A winner has been chosen and informed via the email address they used when submitting their comment.

Reading your responses for whom you would give this book to has been so neat. I wish I had a copy to give to each of you.

    Thanks for reading.
